AMPTHILL WARD

Labour – rebuilding Ampthill for the many, not the few…
Louise Chinnery

Louise Chinnery works for UNISON, the public sector union, and is passionate about defending the NHS from privatisation.
As a mother of two children, both of whom attend local schools, she is particularly concerned with cuts to public services, especially the financial pressures faced by local schools.
Louise is keen to be elected in order to hold the Tory-led Council to account and to make sure that it both listens to and acts on the concerns of local residents.
She says; “If elected to Central Bedfordshire Council, I would be a strong campaigning voice for Ampthill, Clophill and Maulden.”

Valerie Quinn

Valerie would like to serve as a Labour councillor for the Ampthill ward – which also encompasses Maulden and Clophill.

She grew up in Clophill, leaving to go to college, returning in 1996, and has lived here ever since.

Valerie says; “I am interested in providing the best possible local services, despite the challenges posed by the removal of all local grants by the Conservative Government.

"If elected, I would honestly express my views and those of the people I represent, and work hard to ensure good outcomes for the least advantaged people of the area.”

Carmen Williams

Carmen has lived in Ampthill for 40 years where both her children attended local schools.

Originally from Spain, she finds herself completely at home in Ampthill. Now retired, she taught Foreign Languages in local comprehensives and ESOL at Bedford College, leading a great team of lecturers teaching English to adult students from all over the world.

She says; “I care about what is described as the common good and about the effect that local and national policies have on the lives of the most vulnerable among us.”
